OPENING UP THE DUKE FIELDS SUNDAY 6/28
HELLO EVERYONE !
Well, we had a very successful opening day (yesterday). A lot more of you came out than we had anticipated given that it was a weekday. I had thought we'd begin picking the Dukes in a few days, but the Walcotts are already pretty-well picked out, and the Dukes have ripened up more quickly than expected, so we will open up the Duke fields for picking TOMORROW (Sunday) MORNING at 8:00 am. Sorry about the late notice, particularly to all those whom I told (some as recently as this morning) that we wouldn't be picking the Dukes for a few days, but this business is unpredictable. We should be picking the Dukes for at least several days, but you should come sooner rather than later 'cause they're really nice. You don't want to miss them! Please remember to bring your own picking buckets and wear a mask (see below). Hope to see you!
The coronavirus is still around. Fred is now 98, and Ginnie (Mrs. Fred) is 96. In order to protect them and all our customers - especially our older parents and grandparents (like me!), we will be requesting that everyone entering the farm follow the guidelines promulgated by the State of NJ, as follows:
--If you have any Covid-like symptoms (fever, cough, etc.), if you have tested positive for Covid-19, and/or if you have been in contact with someone who is sick or has tested positive, STAY HOME! Please do not enter the farm.
--While on the farm, everyone over the age of two must wear a face mask that covers your mouth and nose at all times.
--Everyone please practice "social distancing" by staying at least six (6) feet from all persons not in your party at all times.
We know that part of what you enjoy about pick-ur-own blueberries is the open outdoors, the fresh air, and the laid back atmosphere, so the Covid-19 measures may detract a little bit from your experience this year. But PLEASE help us keep Fred - and everyone else - safe. The blueberries will taste as delicious as ever!
For more 2020 rules, and how we will handle payments, scales, and containers, see our new "2020 Changes" page.
Pick-Your-Own berries are $ 2.00 per pound.
Note: Credit cards are now accepted at the farm - online payment methods (e.g.PayPal) are under consideration but are not yet accepted.
Normal pick-your-own hours are 8am - 6pm, 7 days a week, weather permitting (best to call before coming here if there's a chance of thunderstorms). Located in Pemberton, New Jersey, Fred + III is easily reached from the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 206 or Route 38. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give Fred a call.
